where sound meets light
photos by Ellie Williams-Johnson
Live music carries a pulse all its own — a fire that burns in the spotlight, in the sweat and laughter between chords, in the silence just before the crowd erupts. With Dead Star Photography, I work to bottle that energy, freezing the raw emotion of performance into lasting images. Recently, I’ve had the privilege of photographing Dark Waters Project and Few Miles On, capturing not only their sound but the spirit that drives it. Whether it’s a soaring guitar solo, a quiet lyric in the shadows, or the electricity of the crowd, these photographs are about more than music — they’re about moments that feel alive long after the last note fades.
where i stand

Not every photograph comes from going far. Some are made by staying — by learning the shape of the land, the way light settles into familiar fields, the pauses between seasons. These images come from Middle Tennessee, from roads I travel often and places that reveal themselves slowly. They are quiet moments of attention, shaped by weather, repetition, and the grace of noticing what’s already here. This is where I stand.
